Artiste réunionnaise d’origine Italo–Russe, Aurélie Quentin naît et grandit sur l’île de la Réunion, terre de brassage culturel. Elle travaille le portrait figuratif au travers de grands formats, peints à l’huile, présentant une jeunesse rebelle, métissée, dans un décor urbain souvent exotique.
Aurélie Quentin is a Reunionese artist with Italian and Russian roots. She was born and raised on a tropical island nearby South Africa called La Réunion. The artist expresses her creativity through large figurative portraits. With oil painting, Aurélie Quentin shows a rebellious and mixed youth in an urban and often tropical context.

Dans le choix de ses personnages, l’artiste met en valeur le métissage qui, pour elle, est l’exacerbation de la beauté de l’homme. Une évidence omniprésente à la Réunion.
Ses sujets se savent observés, un dialogue s’engage alors avec le spectateur. Ils ont dans l’attitude, une pointe de dédain, une certaine irrévérence, qui suggère une plénitude de l’instant sans se préoccuper du qu’en dira-t-on. La nonchalance d’une pose pourrait être interprétée comme provocatrice ou aguicheuse. Il n’en est rien. Seul le confort de l’instant compte, n’en déplaise au dictat d’une bienséance archaïque et dévoyée.
